The Legndary Jacksons Headed For Their Vegas Residency

Britney Spears has just started luring younger crowds to her recently launched Las Vegas spectacle inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. But the pop star is about to gain some new neighbors at a smaller venue nearby.
The Jacksons have inked a residency deal with Planet Hollywood that will see them perform 40 concerts, promoters for the show announced on Thursday.
Legendary Motown pop musicians The Jacksons are opening a residency as part of the RockTellz & CockTails series at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Jacksons have been signed to perform 40 shows Feb. 20 to April 27; the run coincides with rocker Meat Loaf‘s own RockTellz residency that reopens Feb. 13 in the same showroom.
In the RockTellz series, the artists not only perform many of their hit songs, but also share personal stories of their musical careers.
The Jacksons had nine No. 1 hits and 14 Top 10 hits, including “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “I’ll Be There.” The group are made up of brothers Tito, Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon. The original lineup as The Jackson 5 also included younger brother Michael, known around the world as the King of Pop, who died in 2009.
RockTellz creator Adam Steck said he is honored to offer The Jacksons as the second residency act for the series.
“Audiences are going to love hearing their unbelievable stories and of course, the songs that have helped them become so treasured and adored worldwide,” said Steck, who is also CEO of SPI Entertainment.
This extravagent Las Vegas Show The Jacksons is scheduled to perform at 9:30 p.m. Thursdays – Sundays in the PH Showroom.

Bruno Mars Uleashes at The Chelsea

Bruno Mars

The energy was high opening night of Bruno Mars at The Chelsea in the Cosmopolitan and it never waned throughout a 75-minute performance.

Grammy award-winning artist Mars opened the vintage-inspired concert venue with a sold-out concert delivering what he does best: an electric performance that included his hits and original versions of songs by other artists, including Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin and Bell Biv DeVoe.

Mars had a bit of ground to recover from the get-go: while the concert was listed to begin at 9 p.m., Mars wasn't booked to hit the stage until just after 11 p.m. -- a schedule unknown to ticket holders already irritated from waiting in snaking entry lines. After being appeased with a long set by DJ Supra, fans gladly greeted an energetic Mars riffing on an electric guitar, dressed casually in a black blazer and graphic tee and accompanied by his Hooligans bandmates outfitted in suits and suspenders. Once the youngest Elvis Presley impersonator, when he was 4 years old, Mars habitually performs with kicks, thrusts and other mannerisms that had female attendees screaming when the King did the same, and effortlessly proves that his retro R&B/pop aesthetic isn’t just for show but is an authentic, core musical inspiration.

“This is opening night, yo,” Mars said to the screaming, enthusiastic fans. “This is it.”

Mars and his band — who bring to mind the Temptations with their smoothly choreographed moves — performed his signature hits such as “Treasure,” “Billionaire,” “When I Was Your Man” and “Just the Way You Are” all while framed by an unique pyramid digital screen display that changed frequently and showcased close-up shots of Mars.

“The best $200,000 I ever spent,” he jokingly told the crowd. It was just one moment in a performance that showcased Mars showmanship, talent and ease with the audience that are hallmarks of Vegas’ great headliners.Mars easily brought the audience to a crescendo roar as he repeated, “a little bit louder now” several times. Later he quipped, “I got so much hairspray in my hair right now, my eyes are burning. I’m doing it all for you, Vegas.”

Aside from Mars’ New Year’s Eve performance,  he returns to The Chelsea in 2014 for the following dates: Feb. 15 – 16, May 23 – 24 and Aug. 22 – 23.
